Harry Shipp says he's excited to return to Chicago with the Impact

Harry Shipp - Montreal Impact - Close up

When Harry Shipp was traded away from the Chicago Fire to the Montreal Impact in February, he was clearly devastated. The Chicago-area native had grown up in the Fireā€™s youth system and eventually signed with them as a Homegrown Player in 2014.

But now, after six weeks of games with Montreal, the 24-year-old midfielder feels ready and excited to return to Chicago for Saturdayā€™s match.

ā€œThe amount of time between that trade happening and now is good,ā€ Shipp told the Montreal Impactā€™s website. ā€œIā€™ve gotten a few games to settle in with the new team, so itā€™s not going to be weird to go back. Iā€™m looking forward to going back and seeing people that I got used to seeing for a few years there. Itā€™ll be fun."

Earlier this year, Shipp was very candid about his reaction to having been traded from Chicago to Montreal. He said was an emotional, difficult bit of news to process.

ā€œWhen I told out of the blue that I would no longer be a member of the Fire, I immediately broke down and started crying,ā€ Shipp wrote in an open letter in February. ā€œIt was totally shocking and overwhelming. This club and this city have meant everything to me.ā€

It appears Shipp has found his footing in Montreal, though. He has two assists in five games so far, all of them starts. Read the rest of Shippā€™s interview with the Montreal Impact here.
