Real Salt Lake were missing a handful of their veterans, but that still did not stop the club from picking up its first road win of the season against a bitter rival.

Justen Glad and Luke Mulholland scored on each side of halftime and Real Salt Lake picked up a 2-1 victory against Sporting Kansas City at Children's Mercy Park on Saturday night. RSL were missing regular starters like Nick Rimando, Kyle Beckerman, Javier Morales, and Jamison Olave, but overcame their absences and avoided giving up another two-goal lead to pick up maximum points.

Benny Feilhaber, who made his season debut in the game, gave Sporting KC a sliver of hope late via a controversial penalty kick in the 94th minute, but the home team couldn't build on the goal.

DREAM START: 19-year-old center back Justen Glad earned his first start for Real Salt Lake in this one, and he repaid head coach Jeff Cassar's faith in him with a goal and 90-minute shift that nearly ended with a shutout.
PUTTING AN END TO IT: With Saturday's victory, RSL snapped a six-game winless streak in Kansas City. Additionally, Real Salt Lake have now come out on top in three consecutive games vs. Sporting KC to boast the longest win streak in the series by either team.
DP DEBUT: Sporting KC needed a spark late in the game to try and ignite a rally, and head coach Peter Vermes turned to young Designated Player Diego Rubio. The on-loan Rubio entered the game in the 80th minute, and drew a penalty kick in stoppage time that Feilhaber converted.
