Charlie Davies welcomes twins a little bit earlier than planned

Charlie Davies - New England Revolution - With teammates

It's been a stop and start open to the season for New England Revolution striker Charlie Davies. But his issues on the field are no comparison to the problems he's had to deal with off it.

Davies and his wife Nina were expecting twin boys sometime between mid-May and mid-June, but on St. Patrick's Day they were dealt a surprise. They welcomed the twins into the world three months premature due to complications.

The babies have still not been able to come home, but that's no problem, according to Davies.

“They definitely tried to come into the world a little too early,” Davies told Jeff Lemieux at RevolutionSoccer.net. “Rhys and Dakota are fighters, just like their parents. They’re progressing and that’s all you can ask for.”

Davies scored in the Revolution's opener against the Houston Dynamo but was forced out of the team's next game after suffering a hamstring strain.
