World's top FIFA players to compete at Interactive World Cup

Millions of soccer fans around the world love the EA Sports FIFA video games.

Turns out, some of Major League Soccer’s biggest stars enjoy picking up the sticks, too.

As detailed by Yahoo Sports in the above video, the LA Galaxy’s Giovani dos Santos, Robbie Keane and Steven Gerrard, Seattle Sounders’ Clint Dempsey and Orlando City’s Kaká all enjoy playing FIFA, even if they do it with varying degrees of success.

While MLS no doubt has some very solid FIFA players, it’s probably safe to say that even the best gamer in the league wouldn’t be able to compete with the world’s finest, who will compete for the FIFA Interactive World Cup in New York City this weekend.

Thirty-two of the best EA Sports FIFA 16 players in the world are in the tournament, which – just like the real World Cup – will feature a group stage followed by a 16-player knockout round. The group stage, Round of 16 and quarterfinals will be held on Monday, with the semifinal and two-legged championship rounds held on Tuesday at New York’s famed Apollo Theater.

MLSsoccer.com will be on hand at the event – stay tuned for all of our coverage.
