AT&T MLS Goal of the Week voting is back – and it’s got a whole new look.

We’ve changed how the Goal of the Week is voted on, switching from the old, five-goal poll to an all-new tournament featuring eight goals facing off head-to-head in a bracket format.

The strikes will be selected every week by the MLSsoccer.com staff, then paired off into four quarterfinal matchups. The four quarterfinal winners will advance to the semis, and the two semifinal winners will square off in the final, with the winner announced each Friday during the season.

Voting for Goal of the Week will begin every Monday, and conclude on Thursday nights at 11:55 pm ET. The full voting timeline is below:

  • Monday: Voting for quarterfinals begins
  • Tuesday, 11:55 pm ET: Voting for quarterfinals ends, semifinal vote begins
  • Wednesday, 11:55 pm ET: Voting for semifinals ends, final vote begins
  • Thursday, 11:55 pm ET: Voting for final ends
  • Friday: Winner announced

We have a very strong crop of goals up for the Week 1 honors, with NYCFC’s Tommy McNamara facing off against Orlando’s Cyle Larin, Crew SC’s Federico Higuain battling LA’s Mike Magee, Montreal’s Ignacio Piatti dueling with Houston’s Giles Barnes and New England’s Diego Fagundez squaring off against NYCFC’s Mix Diskerud.
