US Soccer unveils new crest via fan-centric campaign with virtual-reality technology

US Soccer unveiled its new crest in unconventional fashion on Monday, revealing a shield featuring seven red and six white stripes below a dark blue “USA” wordmark via a fan-driven campaign.

The federation eschewed a traditional media reveal, instead unveiling the new crest through the social media accounts of US national team players and fans who were delivered a box set that featured Google Cardboard, a virtual-reality promotional video and a US Soccer scarf.

This is US Soccer’s first major re-brand since 1995, when the old crest featuring a soccer ball and stars was first introduced.
