How Liga MX CONCACAF Champions League participants fared heading into Leg 2

Andre Gignac - Aaron Maund - Real Salt Lake vs. Tigres - Feb. 24, 2016

After four games that saw Liga MX hand MLS teams two losses and two draws, the second legs of the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals are set to be played this week.

Liga MX is currently in-season, and all four teams that are participating in the quarterfinals had matches this weekend. Here's how they fared:

Club América (opponent: Seattle Sounders)

After securing a 2-2 draw in Seattle last week, América headed to Monterrey to face Tigres on Saturday night. They were without the services of Oribe Peralta and Carlos Darwin Quintero, after the two strikers were handed red cards in last week's league match.

They scored the first goal of the game in the 69th minute through replacement striker Jesus Moreno, but from there everything fell apart. Damian Alvarez scored Tigres' first goal in the 72nd minute and Pablo Aguilar was shown a second yellow one minute later, after being accused of handling the ball in the box. Juninho slotted home the penalty and Andre-Pierre Gignac and Rafael Sobis added two more before William da Silva was shown a red card in the 90th minute.

Rubens Sambueza appeared to suffer a shoulder injury that forced him off so his status for Wednesday's game (8 pm ET; FS2/UDN) could be in jeopardy.

Querétaro (opponent: D.C. United)

Querétaro held serve last Tuesday when they defeated D.C. United 2-0 at home in the first leg. On Saturday they managed to get a draw on the road at Morelia, though the final result was a bit of a disappointment. Former Real Salt Lake midfielder Luis Gil got the start and his teammate Luis Noriega opened the scoring in the 11th minute. But Los Gallos Blancos failed to hold onto the lead, conceding the equalizer in the 90th minute.

They will visit D.C. on Tuesday night (8 pm ET; FS2/UDN) in an effort to hold onto their two-goal advantage and claim a spot in the semifinals.

Santos Laguna (opponent: LA Galaxy)

Santos secured a comfortable CCL road result last Wednesday night in LA when they drew 0-0 against the Galaxy. On Saturday night they faced off against Puebla, who have had an up-and-down season so far. Despite a red card that left Puebla down a man in the 27th minute, Santos Laguna were unable to secure all three points at home.

Ulises Davila scored one for the home side in the 64th minute, but that was only enough to equalize the scoreline. They will be looking to get the win on Wednesday when LA jet down to Torreon (10 pm ET; FS2).

Tigres UANL (opponent: Real Salt Lake)

Tigres will be entering their second leg against Real Salt Lake flying high, after dismantling América in the final 15 minutes on Saturday. Gignac and Sobis both got back on the scoresheet and the strike partnership looks to be back on track after a mediocre first leg against RSL.

The 2-0 win last Wednesday night should serve them well when they head up to Utah on Wednesday (10 pm ET; FS2).
