Transfer Watch: Santos Laguna's Javier "Chuletita" Orozco would like to play in MLS

Javier Orozco (aka Chuletita) celebrates a goal for Santos Laguna in the Liga MX final

MLS fans will get a glimpse of Javier “Chuletita” Orozco on Wednesday night, when the Mexican international will suit up for Santos Laguna against LA Galaxy in the first leg of their CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal series at StubHub Center.

According to comments made by the 28-year-old attacker in an interview with ESPN Deportes on Tuesday, we might be seeing a lot more of him in MLS in the future.

“I think that the league is on the rise, and it’s getting much more important, with much more money,” he said. “The players that they are bringing to the league are important figures at their clubs in Europe, and I feel like the league is doing very well. The truth is that I’d like to – in the future, of course – I think I’d like to come to MLS.”

One of the leading scorers in CCL history, Orozco moved from Cruz Azul to Santos in 2013, helping the club to the 2015 Liga MX Clausura championship.

He has 14 career caps with the Mexican national team, making three substitute appearances for El Tri in their run to the CONCACAF Gold Cup title last summer.
