South End canopy raised at Toronto FC's BMO Field

It may have been a Sunday morning, but it was the perfect time for BMO Field to raise the roof.

That's a literal statement, by the way, as Toronto FC's home featured the South End canopy being hoisted into place. Two massive cranes lifted the 980,000-pound structure, as the stadium is making major renovations ahead of the 2016 season.

TFC head coach Greg Vanney discussed the impact of the canopy in an article on MLSsoccer.com last month.

“Additions to the stadium are going to make the facilities amazing,” the Toronto FC head coach said. “We have a great crowd that makes a lot of noise, and [the roof] will help keep some of that in. Any time there's a roof, that's a different feel, another level. That's exciting. The guys are excited.”
