Behind closed doors

Two of the league's most talked-about teams will kick off Saturday's action, but don't expect to be able to see the scrimmage between the LA Galaxy and Toronto FC, which will take place behind closed doors at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

New Galaxy arrivals Ashley Cole and Jelle van Damme are not expected to feature on Saturday, per Toronto's official website, which also laid out a potential lineup for the Reds: Irwin; Lovitz, Moor, Perquis, Bloom; Osorio, Cheyrou, Delgado; Babouli, Hamilton, Endoh.

Champs in Cascadia clash

Perhaps one of the most intriguing matchups of this preseason, the defending champion Portland Timbers will face their archrivals, the Seattle Sounders, in the Tucson nightcap at 9 pm ET. The Sounders, who recently cut a few trialists from camp, are sporting a new-look 4-3-3 formation, while the Timbers have had to make a few changes to their winning formula. You can catch a stream of the game on SoundersFC.com.

1.0 vs. 2.0

The San Jose Earthquakes will square off against the team formerly known as the Earthquakes when they face the Dynamo in an all-Western Conference clash in Tucson. In the Houston camp, Will Bruin is re-signed and ready to rock for 2016, while the Quakes remain focused on building a foundation for the year ahead after a narrow playoff miss in 2015:

Fire it up

The Chicago Fire get their preseason slate underway in Tampa, Florida with a friendly against the University of South Florida. They will have a mostly complete squad, save for recent USMNT debutant and first-round SuperDraft pick Brandon Vincent.
