Could Panama international Roberto Chen be headed to MLS?

Panama America reported that the 21-year-old has an offer to join the league following the termination of his contract with La Liga side Malaga. Chen had just completed at loan with Linense, marking an end to his time with Malaga after seeing limited playing time.

After beginning his career with Panamanian club San Francisco, Chen signed with Malaga in 2013. Prior to his loan with Linense, Chen was loaned to Belgian club Zulte Waregem where he spent the second half of the 2013-14 season. Chen made two appearances with Malaga, both coming during the first half of that same season.

He made his debut with the Panama national team in 2011 and has since made 16 appearances with Los Canaleros. Six of those 16 appearances came during the 2013 Gold Cup, when Panama made a run to the final. Most recently he started all three games for Panama during Olympic qualifying, but the team was eliminated from the competition during the group stage.
