Nelson Valdez - Seattle Sounders - Applauds fans

Nelson Valdez shot down on Sunday a report that linked him with a pair of Colombian clubs, posting to his Twitter and Instagram accounts that he’s happy in Seattle and will remain with the Sounders.

Valdez was linked to Independiente Medellin and Atletico Nacional last week. The 32-year-old Paraguayan international signed a Designated Player contract with Seattle last August, scoring two goals in 10 regular season and playoff appearances with the club.

Valdez and the Sounders will begin preseason training on Friday at their facility in Tukwila, Washington. Seattle will face off with Mexican giants Club América in a CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal series beginning on Feb. 23 at CenturyLink Field.
