Japanese star Keisuke Honda holds soccer clinic in US, comments on potential MLS move

World Cup: Japan's Keisuke Honda strokes home a goal vs. Ivory Coast.

At just 29, AC Milan and Japanese national team midfielder Keisuke Honda has plenty of time left in his career, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t also looking toward the next phase.

Honda has his own company, has established several soccer schools in Japan and even acquired a third-division Austrian club last June. This winter, he’s turned his gaze towards the United States, spending some of his downtime during Serie A’s holiday break hosting a soccer clinic for 100 local children at StubHub Center in Southern California.

FOX Soccer’s Kyle McCarthy recently spoke with Honda about his interest in the US, even prodding the midfielder about a potential move to MLS when his contract expires next summer.

“I’m very interested in MLS, even as a player, but I don’t know if I will play or not,” Honda told McCarthy. “I would say that MLS is a developing soccer league in the world. There are a lot of famous players coming to MLS.”
