So far it's been a quiet offseason for the Philadelphia Union and their new sporting director, Earnie Stewart: The only addition they have made is MLS veteran Chris Pontius.

But it appears that will change in the coming days. A report from Philly.com, later confirmed by EmpireofSoccer.com, states that the Union are set to sign New York Cosmos midfielder Walter Restrepo.

EoS also states that the Union will be paying a transfer fee for the player, along with sending a player on loan to the Cosmos.

"We’re actively pursuing various options to improve our team, but any speculation is simply that at the current time," said a Union official when when contacted by MLSsoccer.com.

Restrepo was part of a Cosmos side that took home the Soccer Bowl championship trophy in 2015. Restrepo appeared in a total of 32 matches over the course of the year, scoring three goals and adding five assists.

Restrepo has been a part of the NASL since 2011, also playing for the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers and San Antonio Scorpions. Back in 2014 he was infamously traded from the Stikers to the Scorpions for hotel and transportation arrangements.

The Union currently have just 13 players on their roster after seeing 16 players leave the club through various roster mechanisms.
