With one World Cup veteran defender departed from the LA Galaxy, could another one be on the way?

That's the word from multiple sources, as ESPN's Jeff Carlisle backed up reports out of Europe that AS Roma defender Ashley Cole is in talks with the Galaxy.

Cole, 35, is looking for a new club after failing to make a mark in a season and a half with the Serie A club. Before that, he was regarded as a world-class left back, racking up numerous trophies and accolades with Premier League sides Chelsea and Arsenal. He was also an England international for 13 years, playing in three World Cups and two European Championships.

According to Carlisle, the Galaxy are not the only team pursuing Cole, but are "showing the most interest" at present.

The reports come the same week LA sold former MLS Defender of the Year Omar Gonzalez to Liga MX side Pachuca.
