MLS Cup - 2015 - Timbers celebrate with trophy and fireworks

The growth of MLS was one of the big stories of the 2015 season – and it’s not going unnoticed.

An article in Forbes discussed with MLS President and Managing Director Gary Stevenson how the league now stacks up against the so-called “Big Four” professional sports league in North America – NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL – detailing numbers that make the case that the league is closing the gap, and closing quickly.

The most eye-popping evidence could very well be its 50-percent increase in total gross TV viewership from 2013 thanks to new media partnerships with ESPN, FOX and Univision.

The article also touches on increases in page views on the league’s digital platforms, the league’s success with the multicultural 18-34 demographics, corporate sponsorships and expansion plans.
