Could 2016 be Steven Gerrard's final year? LA Galaxy star dishes on adjustment to MLS, future plans

Could 2016 be Steven Gerrard’s final season?

The 35-year-old midfielder hinted in comments published on LAGalaxy.com on Monday that he’s considering hanging up his boots after next season. Gerrard arrived in LA this summer after a storied 17-year stint at Liverpool, scoring two goals and notching three assists in 13 regular season appearances before the Galaxy were bounced by the Seattle Sounders in the Knockout Round of the 2015 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs last Wednesday.

“It could be my last season as a footballer. … I certainly don’t want to feel like I’m feeling right now come next year,” Gerrard told reporters in Seattle last week. “I’d love to go out on a high. It’s a long season, and I only came here for the last four months, but I’ll certainly be better for the experience next year.”

Gerrard, who struggled as the Galaxy faltered down the stretch, also talked about his adjustment to MLS, his thoughts on what went wrong in 2015 and his hopes for a bounce-back year in 2016. Click here for the full story.
