Club Leon are a step away from picking up some hardware, and William Yarbrough is one of the major reasons why.
Yarbrough helped his club reach the Copa MX final on Wednesday, posting a shutout as Leon topped Atlas 1-0 at home. The clean-sheet was the US national team goalkeeper's second straight in the tournament after blanking Cruz Azul in the quarterfinals last week, and brought down his goals against average to 1.13 in the tournament.
Yarbrough, who has yet to see time in league play, has been Leon's starter in Copa MX this season. Leon's record with him in goal is 6-0-2 so far, and Yarbrough seems a safe bet to get the nod again in the final vs. Chivas de Guadalajara on Nov. 4.
Club Leon return to Liga MX action on Saturday when they host Atlas once again.
