Toronto FC are on the verge of making the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs, but how bad has it been over the years?

With a win or draw on Wednesday night against the New York Red Bulls (7 pm ET; TSN in Canada, MLS LIVE in US), Toronto FC will finally get into the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.

As most of you know by now, it has been a long wait for the oft-beleaguered club.

Since their expansion into the league, Toronto have had few moments of happiness.

There was, of course, their first-ever goal, their many Canadian Championship wins, a CONCACAF Champions League run back in 2012 and...not much else. Especially in MLS.

Just for a little reference, TFC did not score a goal in their first four games in MLS. Also, Sebastian Giovinco is already their second-leading goalscorer of all-time and he's not even through a full season yet.

So just how bad has it been for Canada's first MLS team over the years? Check out the table below.

Toronto FC through the years
YearPts.Place in EastPts. out of playoffsSeason note
2007257 (of 7)15894 min. w/o a goal (longest streak ever)
2008357 (of 7)4Allowed 2nd fewest goals at home

2013299 (of 10)20Went winless in 9 straight home games
2014417 (of 10)8Won 2 of last 13 games

With a win against the Red Bulls, Toronto FC will not only win four MLS games in a row for the first time in their history, but they will also put an end to much of their anguish.
