Save of the Week Update: New York Red Bulls' Luis Robles running away with Week 29 voting

MLS Save of the Week: Week 29

The Portland Timbers were undoubtedly shell shocked by Luis Robles’ spectacular double save the New York Red Bulls’ 2-0 victory over them on Sunday afternoon. What’s of little surprise, however, is that Robles is running away with Save of the Week voting for Week 29.

The veteran ‘keeper, making in his 100th career MLS start in the match, has picked up a whopping 55.39 percent of the vote en route to what would be his second win of the season.

His closest competition is Real Salt Lake’s Nick Rimando for his close-range effort on LA Galaxy’s Alan Gordon, which has garnered 25.77 percent of the vote.

The bottom three in the voting – New York City FC’s Josh Saunders (8.96), FC Dallas’ Jesse Gonzalez (7.72) and Houston Dyamo’s Tyler Deric (2.16) – have some work to do to get back in the race.

Will Robles continue to run away with the award, or is there a late run in one of the other competitors. Make your voice heard!

Voting runs until 11:59 pm PT on Thursdays. For complete coverage of the MLS Save of the Week award – including an archive of all of this season’s nominees and winners – click here
