Sporting Kansas City's Benny Feilhaber named MLS Player of the Week for two-goal performance

In a game that Sporting Kansas City needed to win, midfielder Benny Feilhaber stepped up, and he's been recognized for his efforts.

Feilhaber was voted MLS Player of the Week for Week 29 of the season, after scoring two goals in SKC's 3-1 win over FC Dallas. The first tally came on a free kick from the edge of the box in the 65th minute to break the scoreless deadlock, and he followed that up by converting a penalty kick 11 minutes later to give Sporting some breathing room.

The Player of the Week nod is Feilhaber's first since July 2014, although he was voted Etihad MLS Player of the Month in April 2015. He is tied for first in the league with 14 assists, and is currently one of just two players in the league to have double digits in both goals and assists, alongside Toronto FC's Sebastian Giovinco.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
