It looks like Greg Garza won’t be playing a role in the USMNT’s crucial CONCACAF Cup matchup against Mexico on October 10.

Reports emerged Thursday that the Club Atlas defender, who was named Wednesday to Jurgen Klinsmann’s 35-man preliminary roster for the upcoming Confederations Cup playoff, will be out for approximately five months due to a hip injury that will require surgery.

Garza, 24, joined Atlas on loan from fellow Liga MX side Club Tijuana earlier this summer. He’s made three appearances this season for the Guadalajara-based club, who currently sit 12th in the Liga MX standings.
