Before we begin, let me just say – if you haven’t played any daily fantasy games yet, they’re a blast. Not only do you get to start fresh with each contest, but you can also earn a fair amount of money, too.

Many of you might be new to the DraftKings platform – or perhaps more familiar with the MLS Fantasy Soccer Manager season-long game. If so, DraftKings 101 was written for you. This two-part series will introduce the DraftKings one-day fantasy platform and give you the information you need to start competing in just three steps.

CREATE YOUR ACCOUNT

1. If it’s your first visit to DraftKings, you’ll be prompted to create a username and password. Once you’ve entered all the fields, be sure to check the box acknowledge the Terms of Use/Privacy Policy as well as your age.

2. Once you’ve created an account, you’ll need to deposit some funds into your account. The minimum deposit is $5, but you can choose to deposit more (DraftKings is currently matching your deposit, so you might prefer to take advantage of that). You can also play in the free contests available on the site.

JOIN A CONTEST

3. Now that you’ve signed up, it’s time to find a contest to join. Select Lobby from the upper navigation bar to see the entire list of contest, then select SOC to view the soccer contests.

There are all sorts of contests to choose from, including ones with no entry fee, which might be a good option if you’d like to get your feet wet. For MLS, contests range in entry fee from totally gratis to two-player duels with a $10,600 entry fee (the winner takes home $20,000).

Note: Be aware that some EPL or Champions League contest can be mixed into this lobby. If you want to join an MLS contest, look for the league name in the contest’s description.

To learn more about a contest, just select on the contest’s name. A popup window will display that shows the particulars of that contest, including a summary, a list of entrants, and details about prize payouts. If you like what you see, select Draft Team to move forward.
