CONCACAF Cup: Ticket purchase lottery opens Wednesday for US vs. Mexico clash at Rose Bowl

CONCACAF confirmed details of the ticket purchase lottery for the CONCACAF Cup on Tuesday, providing fans with the process by which they can experience the high-stakes clash between Mexico and the United States on Oct. 10 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.

The winner of the inaugural edition of the CONCACAF Cup will earn a berth in the next Confederations Cup, set for Russia in 2017 – and in somewhat similar fashion, ticket buyers will have to complete their own sort of journey to earn a seat at the big game.

Beginning on Wednesday, Sept. at 6 am ET and through Sept. 18 at 11:59 pm ET, fans will be able to apply online at CONCACAF.com for the right to purchase tickets via a lottery system. The winning lottery applicants will be notified from Sept. 16-18, and will then be able to purchase up to six tickets per application, through Sept. at 11:59 pm ET.

Lottery winners will be randomly selected via a third-party lottery service provider. All attendees, including children ages two and over, must have a ticket. Once the CONCACAF ticket lottery has been finalized, a limited amount of tickets will be made available to the general public on Sept. 29.  More information on that process will be released in coming weeks.

To date, more than 30,000 tickets have already been sold through independent pre-sales organized by the participating federations.

In 2013, CONCACAF announced the split of the region's berth to the FIFA Confederations Cup between two editions of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, assuring that both editions of the Gold Cup in each four-year cycle have the same importance from a competitive perspective. By winning the recent 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup, Mexico qualified for the CONCACAF Cup against the 2013 Gold Cup champions, the United States.
