Montreal Impact fans have been waiting anxiously and eagerly for their new signing Didier Drogba to make his first MLS start, a moment that's been frustratingly delayed by a nagging toe injury.


The wait ended at Stade Saputo on Saturday night, and the Cote d'Ivoire legend made sure it was a memorable occasion.


Drogba opened his MLS account with a coolly taken goal 27 minutes into their Eastern Conference clash vs. the Chicago Fire, taking down Nigel Reo-Coker's cross with a masterful first touch and swiveling nimbly before stabbing his finish past Sean Johnson to give Montreal an early 1-0 lead.
