Bonus Points: The keys to finding the best players in short-sided Round 27

Bonus Points: Lee Nguyen of the New England Revolution

The bad news is that only 10 teams are playing in Round 27, and most of those teams will be missing players to international call-ups.

The good news? It’s an unlimited transfer week! We all get a chance to push the reset button on our squads, and make as many roster moves as we want without suffering any penalties. This will allow us to clear out our players with byes and international duty, and set up our team with players that will be active in the next few weeks.

With that in mind, I’ve taken a look at the players for all 10 teams that are playing this week, and calculated their performances over the last seven rounds. I’ve also included the percentage of team minutes played since Round 20, so we can see who has been consistently getting minutes over the past few weeks. Since we have to basically rebuild our squads from scratch, I’m including the top 50 players – based on points-per-90 minutes – that have played at least 25 percent of the time.

The best bets look to be in New England, San Jose and possibly Toronto, depending on Sebastian Giovinco’s injury status. The Montreal Impact also have a ton of double-game weeks, but that could also spell heavy squad rotation and fatigue, so tread with caution.

What’s the biggest takeaway from this chart? Make sure you have Lee Nguyen on your roster this week. He’s been on fire and is playing at home against a leaky Orlando City SC defense:
