Report: Frisco, Texas leading candidate to become next home of National Soccer Hall of Fame

Toyota Stadium, FC Dallas

If the National Soccer Hall of Fame is to soon find another home, Frisco, Texas continues to be the leading candidate.

According to the Washington Post, the Dallas suburb is leading the pack in terms of becoming the next location for the National Soccer Hall of Fame. It was previously based in Oneonta, New York, but the facility there closed because of monetary issues. Nearly all of the 80,000 items that were part of the display are currently located in North Carolina.

The home of FC Dallas could, however, change all that. After entering a negotiating deal with the U.S. Soccer Federation in 2014, Frisco could soon build a facility next to Toyota Stadium that would be 15,000 square feet. It would not operate on daily hours, and instead would be opened around nearby events.

While nothing is set in stone, financing for the facility could come from the city of Frisco and Hunt Sports Group, which operates FC Dallas.
