American Exports: Fabian Johnson, Borussia Monchengladbach get tough Champions League draw

AMSTERDAM – Fabian Johnson and Borussia Monchengladbach were given quite the tall task in Thursday's draw for the Champions League group stage, with 2015 runners-up Juventus, Manchester City and Europa League holders Sevilla lining up for Group D battle.


The Foals have never faced the Citizens, but were dealt a pair of losses by Sevilla on their way to the 2014-15 Europa League crown. Johnson played in both games, with a start in the 1-0 away loss and 12 minutes at the end of leg two. The US international was not yet alive when 'Gladbach scored a European Cup win and draw over Juventus 40 years ago.


Matchday One will kick off the group phase proceedings on September 15-16.
