AMSTERDAM – At least a half-dozen clubs spread around England, Spain, and the rest of Europe are eager to snare seldom-used Tottenham flank threat DeAndre Yedlin on loan before the September 1st transfer deadline, MLSsoccer.com has learned.
Sources on both sides of the Atlantic have confirmed that at least three Championship teams--one from Spain and along with those from a few other European countries--are hot on Yedlin's trail. Despite consistently drawing good local remarks for his performance in training and being named to the provisional squad for each of Spurs' first three Premier League matches of the term, he has yet to dress.
One source close to the situation told MLSsoccer.com that Tottenham's plan is to make a decision for the first half of the season by the standard transfer deadline. Premier League sides can still send players out on short-term loans after the summer window closes.
In the past, Yedlin has been linked with loan interest from the likes of Birmingham City, Bolton, Derby County, Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion. AS Roma, Anderlecht and Werder Bremen all also seriously pursued him before he joined Spurs from the Seattle Sounders a year ago this month.
