American Exports: Gedion Zelalem set for Scottish stint as Rangers FC "delighted" to seal loan deal

AMSTERDAM—Rangers FC manager Mark Warburton has confirmed widespread British media reports that Arsenal prize prospect Gedion Zelalam is set to join the Scottish second-flight's early leaders on loan until January.

The Berlin-born US Under-20 ace was on hand Sunday at Ibrox Stadium to watch the club's 1-0 victory over Hibernian, and is expected to complete the loan deal with his signature on Monday.

"He will be training with us tomorrow and will be part of the squad," Warburton told reporters after the match. "I am delighted to get hold of him. He is another young, very talented player."

According to various outlets across the pond, Rangers won out over competition from the likes of Championship sides Birmingham City and Fulham. To date, Zelalam's only first-team experience with the Gunners consists of an FA Cup sub shift in January 2014, along with a half of Champions League work against Turkish giants Galatasaray in last year's final group-stage match.

Rangers will visit minnows Airdrieonians in Scottish League Cup play on Wednesday before returning to the league schedule with a trip to Queen of the South on Sunday.
