In the run-up to Sunday’s mega-marquee-name bout between New York City FC and the LA Galaxy, the west coast titans are already scoring a point of sorts. Remember that super-serious, oil-slathered New York magazine photo shoot of Frank Lampard, David Villa, and Andrea Pirlo? It may not hold a candle to this.
The Galaxy, they will have you know in this excellent new video, also did their own slick spread. And while we’ll never know what was going through the minds of the inscrutably faced NYCFC star trio, the Galaxy guys give us a better peek into their behind-the-scenes (or, really, under-the-clothes).
Dan Gargan, Alan Gordon, and Nacho Maganto hit pretty much the perfect level of seriousness here – which is to say, a very low one. So whatever happens on the pitch on Sunday, they’ll always have this grease-off.
