American Exports: Danny Williams opens season account for Reading in midweek draw

AMSTERDAM – Reading midfielder Daniel Williams netted his first goal of the new Championship season on Wednesday night, but the visitors were cruelly denied victory by Sheffield Wednesday's last-minute 1-1 equalizer.

The US midfielder opened the scoring four minutes out of intermission. Williams got to the end of an Orlando Sa cross to pick the top corner from near the spot. The 26-year-old has scored all five of his Reading tenure goals away from home.

Just when the Williams strike looked set to gain a game-winner tag, Wednesday's Modou Sougou popped up at the back post to level matters in the 90th minute. The result kept the Royals winless through three rounds.
