AT&T MLS Goal of the Week Update: Toronto FC's Sebastian Giovinco holds big lead in Week 23 race

AT&T Goal of the Week: Week 23

Toronto FC's Sebastian Giovinco has been rolling in the accolades this season, collecting three MLS Player of the Week awards and most recently being named the Etihad Airways Player of the Month for July. Now, the MVP front-runner looks poised to add another award to his growing collection.

Giovinco's curling free kick in TFC's 4-1 over Orlando City last week currently holds a comfortable lead in the AT&T MLS Goal of the Week race for Week 23 with 40.26 percent of the vote, nearly 17 percentage points more than a low blast from the Vancouver Whitecaps' Cristian Techera, who holds 23.37 percent of the vote.

Techera looks poised for a comfortable second-place finish, though, with DaMarcus Beasley of the Houston Dynamo sitting in third place with 13.98 percent of the vote. The LA Galaxy's Giovani dos Santos follows closely with 12.94 percent of the vote for a goal on his league debut, while Giovinco's Toronto teammate Michael Bradley rounds out he pack with 9.44 percent.

Can Techera benefit from a late surge of support? Or is Giovinco's first Goal of the Week award a foregone conclusion? Vote now – the winner will be announced on Friday.

Voting runs until 11:59 pm PT on Thursdays. For complete coverage of the AT&T MLS Goal of the Week – including an archive of all of this season’s nominees and winners – click here
