Want to see a supporters culture panel at SXSW? Vote now | SIDELINE

The SXSW festival -- famous for weeks of music, film, and interactive panels, screenings, and parties -- added sports as a "convergence track" of events in 2014.

The initial two years proved successful -- so SXSports, as it's dubbed, will return in 2016, expanded. And the fest is now offering fans the chance to pick panels' subject matter.

One potential option? A gathering titled "Understanding Supporter Culture in MLS." The potential panel would feature leaders from the Sons of Ben (Philadelphia Union), Kansas City Cauldron (Sporting Kansas City), and Empire Supporters Club (New York Red Bulls). The goal is to answer these essential questions:

  • What is the makeup of a supporter group in MLS?
  • How important has the in-stadium fan experience and the electric environment become to the sport?
  • Is it soccer’s competitive advantage?
  • How has technology, innovation and social media impacted the supporter group?
