MLS Disciplinary Committee suspends Sporting KC's Roger Espinoza, Chicago Fire's Matt Watson

The MLS Disciplinary has issued suspensions to Sporting Kansas City midfielder Roger Espinoza and the Chicago Fire midfielder Matt Watson, the league announced Wednesday.


The Committee suspended Espinoza for one game and fined him an undisclosed amount for endangering the safety of an opponent in the 67th minute of Kansas City's match against Houston on Aug. 1 (VIDEO).


In a separate incident in the 44th minute of the same game, the Committee fined Sporting KC forward Dom Dwyer an undisclosed amount for embellishment while both Sporting and Houston were found to be in violation of the Mass Confrontation Policy (VIDEO).


Additionally, the Committee reviewed an incident in the 79th minute of the Fire's match against FC Dallas on Aug. 2 in which Watson received a red card for serious foul play that endangered the safety of an opponent. In addition to the mandatory one-game suspension and undisclosed fine that accompanies the red card, the Disciplinary Committee has suspended Watson an addition game (two games total) and levied an additional undisclosed fine due to the egregious and reckless nature of the play (VIDEO).


Finally, Columbus Crew SC forward Kei Kamara was fined an undisclosed amount for violating the league's policy regarding Hands to the Face/Head/Neck of an Opponent in the 79th minute of Columbus' game against Orlando City on Aug. 1 (VIDEO).
