American Exports: Julian Green to remain with Bayern Munich reserves, loan or transfer "out of the question"

AMSTERDAM – The agent for Bayern Munich wing prospect Julian Green says his client will remain with the German champs' reserves in an effort to break into Pep Guardiola's first team.

The 20-year-old Tampa native spent the preseason with the Bundesliga side, but was shipped to the second team in time for 461271526" tabindex="0">Wednesday night's Bayern II league opener. Green started and worked 69 minutes in the 1-1 draw at FV Illertissen.



"[He] will remain at FC Bayern," Green rep Roman Grill told German outlet Kicker 461271527" tabindex="0">on Thursday. "He's got a task here with the second team."

The US international has had a string of calls all summer from clubs in both MLS and Europe inquiring about his status at Bayern. But Green remains insistent on battling for a place at Allianz Arena.

"Julian Green wants to assert himself at his hometown club FC Bayern," said Katharina Schrott, Grill's colleague at the agency that represents Green. "With this motivation and perspective in mind, he will give it his all in the Under-23s. Another loan or even a transfer is out of the question."
