AMSTERDAM – Julian Green got the start in Bayern Munich II's season opener on Wednesday night, as the visitors conceded a late goal to settle for a 1-1 share at FV Illertissen.

The left winger worked 69 minutes, departing shortly after the home equalizer. Green was most active in the first half, when he shaved the frame with a shot and then set up Karl-Heinz Lappe to do the same.

Green was sent over from the first team for the contest, along with fellow attacker Sinan Kurt and midfielder Gianluca Gaudino. The Tampa native has made it clear he wants to fight for a place at Bayern, despite club executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge publicly admitting they would prefer he spend one more season on loan. The World Cup 2014 scorer's agent recently told MLSsoccer.com that a horde of clubs from both sides of the Atlantic have called to ask about his services.

Pep Guardiola's Bayern senior side will kick off their campaign in Saturday's German Super Cup at Wolfsburg. The Bavarians will then host AC Milan, Real Madrid and DeAndre Yedlin's Tottenham in the Audi Cup before visiting Nöttingen for a DfB-Pokal second round tie on Aug. 9 and returning to Allianz Arena for their Aug. 14 Bundesliga opener against Hamburg.
