Stuart Holden discusses latest comeback attempt after slew of major injuries | SIDELINE

Stuart Holden, USMNT

As he notes in a recent documentary short by Arch Rivals, Stuart Holden has played in the World Cup, the Olympics, and the English Premier League.

He's also spent more time in surgery and rehabbing from major injuries than most soccer players could ever imagine.

The former Houston Dynamo midfielder and US international, most recently with English side Bolton Wanderers, has not played as a professional since re-injuring his knee in a reserve performance for Bolton in March 2014. As Holden recounted recently in an article on The Player's Tribune, he's currently out of contract, a situation not without its challenges, but he hasn't given up on making a comeback.

Taken together, the article and documentary offer fans a window into the ups and downs for Holden, a player whose skills have never been in doubt, but whose luck when it comes to health has slowed down a career that appeared to be capable of ascending to heights rarely seen by American players abroad.

Still, Holden is choosing to look ahead to what could be to come for him as a player, before hanging up his cleats for good.
