MLS All-Stars vs. Tottenham Hotspur | 2015 AT&T MLS All-Star Game Match Preview

MLS All-Stars vs. Tottenham Hotspur
2015 AT&T MLS All-Star Game
July 29 | 9 pm ET | Dick's Sporting Goods Park, Commerce City, Colo.
TV: Fox Sports 1, UniMas, TSN

The 2015 AT&T MLS All-Star Game is almost upon us, with the MLS All-Stars set to face off against English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Wednesday night (9 pm ET, FOX Sports 1 and UniMas in the US, TSN in Canada).

The matchup will mark the first time the All-Stars have ever played Tottenham, who made their way from London to Denver on Sunday. MLS has a solid history against English Premier League sides in the annual showcase, posting a 4-2-1 record against Chelsea, Everton, Fulham, Manchester United and West Ham in past All-Star Games

If the All-Stars are to improve upon that record on Wednesday, they’ll need to put in a strong showing against a solid Spurs side that finished fifth in the 2014-15 Premier League season.

US STARS, DP'S, FORMER SPURS HEADLINE ALL-STAR ROSTER

This year’s All-Star roster is one of the most talented ever assembled, with a slew of USMNT stars and high-profile Designated Players set to take the field in Colorado on Wednesday. While Michael Bradley, Kaká, David Villa and Sebastian Giovinco will certainly garner a good bit of attention, many will be focused on Wednesday on a pair of former Spurs set to suit up for the All-Stars: Seattle Sounders forward Clint Dempsey and LA Galaxy striker Robbie Keane.

Keane is one of the most prolific forwards in Tottenham history, sitting in 10th on the club’s all-time goals list with 122 strikes in all competitions. The Irish international played a total of 303 games for Spurs, and lead or co-lead Tottenham in scoring in four different seasons.

Dempsey had a much shorter run at White Hart Lane, scoring seven goals in 29 appearances in one season with Tottenham before moving to Seattle in the summer of 2013.

TOTTENHAM FINISHING PREP FOR 2015-16 EPL SEASON

While EPL rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have embarked on jet-setting preseason tours across North America and Asia, Tottenham have kept it relatively low-key this summer, spending the first part of their preseason training and playing a handful of friendly matches in England before departing for Denver on Sunday.

Spurs had yet to release their full traveling roster as of this writing, but we’ve been able to parse together a few players making the trip to Colorado through some social media sleuthing. It appears star striker Harry Kane is on the trip, as well as Belgian international Jan Vertonghen, goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris and Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen, among others. No word yet on whether US international and ex-Seattle Sounder DeAndre Yedlin will join up with Spurs in time for Wednesday's match from the USMNT's recently completed Gold Cup run.
