C.J. Sapong has continued his strong run of form by entering the MLS and Philadelphia Union record books.
His goal 20 seconds into Sunday evening’s match against D.C. United is the seventh fastest in league history and fastest in club history – while also topping the list for the fastest goal scored in league play this season.
Immediately following the opening kick, Sapong took a feed from Cristian Maidana at the top of the box, turned and shed his defender before firing past United goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra. It was his seventh goal of the season in 15 games.
