American Exports: Zarek Valentin scores first-ever Tippeligaen goal as Bodø/Glimt win again

Montreal Impact's Zarek Valentin celebrates Bodo Glimt's return to the Norwegian top flight

AMSTERDAM – Bodø/Glimt right back Zarek Valentin scored his first Tippeligaen goal on Saturday night, sending the suddenly streaking promoted side on their way to a 2-1 road victory over Ethan Horvath and defending champs Molde FK.

The vistors opened the scoring through Valentin on 21 minutes. With Molde overloaded to the left side, Fitim Azemi picked out the former Montreal Impact defender racing down the right and he calmly slotted past the onrushing Horvath.

The Molde netminder was beaten again in the 36th minute, and did not face an official shot on goal the rest of the way. Horvath did have both posts to thank near time, when 80th-minute Glimt sub Danny Cruz managed to ping them both with a low rocket from 25 yards.

Glimt posted their fourth triumph in a row, the club's best top-flight win streak in nearly 11 years, in climbing to ninth place. Sixth-place Molde, meanwhile, have dropped consecutive league games for the first time since November of 2013.

Also, Bjørn Maars Johnsen worked 77 minutes as Litex Lovech opened the Bulgaria's A PFG season with a 2-0 home victory over Ludogorets. The target striker had a chance to double the Oranges' early lead in the 29th minute, only to have his bullet header well-saved.
