New York City FC midfielder Frank Lampard set to miss match against New England Revolution

It looks like New York City FC will have to wait another week to see Frank Lampard don their team's colors in match play.

Several New York outlets reported on Friday that Lampard will not travel up to Foxborough, Massachusetts for Saturday night's game against the New England Revolution (7:30 pm ET; MLS LIVE), news that was subsequently confirmed by NYCFC officials.

Lampard injured his calf in training earlier this month, forcing him out of last week's match against Toronto FC. The knock is not yet fully healed, prompted NYCFC's technical staff to avoid the risk of extending the midfielder's injury.

He started training again this week, and is expected to be ready to go for next week's game against Orlando City SC.

If that is the case, both Lampard and fellow new arrival Andrea Pirlo could make their MLS debuts on the same day.
