CONCACAF's Jeffrey Webb

The next phase of the US Department of Justice's investigations of soccer governance around the world appears to be underway.

The New York Times reported on Thursday that former CONCACAF President Jeffrey Webb has been extradited from Switzerland, where he was arrested in May, to the United States. The Cayman Islands native reportedly agreed to the extradition to expedite the legal process.

There is no indication in the report of when Webb will have a court date.

Webb, president of CONCACAF from May 2012 until he was provisionally dismissed by the regional soccer governing body a day after his arrest, was also a vice president at FIFA. He has been indicted on charges of racketeering, conspiracy and corruption by the US Department of Justice alongside 13 other people involved in governing the sport or sports marketing.
