American Exports: Julian Green says he wants to stay at Bayern Munich, while club plans to loan him out

AMSTERDAM – Bayern Munich prospect Julian Green says he wants to stay and battle for his place with the German champs, despite every indication that the club is looking to loan out the young winger for the second straight season.

The 20-year-old US international, who has two years remaining on his Bayern contract, is back with the team after a rocky year on loan to Hamburg. With both Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben sidelined, Green is along with Pep Guardiola's squad as they get set to begin the Audi Summer Tour of China with a friendly clash against Valencia in Beijing 9524093" tabindex="0">on Saturday.

However, Green has been issued shirt No. 37 for the season and Bayern technical director Karl-Heinz Rummenigge keeps hinting that the youngster is not in Guardiola's plans for the 2015-16 campaign. He told reporters back in March that the attacker needed another season out on loan to grow, and he reiterated that stance 9524094" tabindex="0">on Wednesday.

"I do not think he will stay here at Bayern," Rummenigge told German daily TZ on Wednesday night.

Nevertheless, Green told the newspaper he feels back in his element with the Bavarians and has no desire to leave the club.

"I want to fight here, so I will stay," he stated. "I have in the last year to know the business. It was a very difficult year for me.

"It may well be that it has made me mentally stronger. But to be honest, I'm just happy that I'm back here. I've played at Bayern since I was 14. I will be successful here."

To date, Green has managed just one brief Champions League cameo with Bayern. He worked five Bundesliga contests for Hamburg last season.
