Gold Cup: Honduran Carlos Discua, goal-scorer vs. USMNT, eyeing move to MLS

Honduran Carlos Discua celebrates goal vs. USMNT in Gold Cup

Carlos Discua scored Honduras’ lone goal in their 2-1 loss to the United States in the teams’ Gold Cup opener Monday in front of a sold-out crowd at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.

And the Honduran midfielder is hoping among those watching were MLS scouts.

He told Honduran outlet Diario Diez that he hopes to use the Gold Cup to showcase his talents and then sign with an MLS team. Discua signed with Costa Rican powerhouse Alajuelense before the Gold Cup, and hopes his next team will be one in North America.

"The MLS is very striking for one," he said. "Because of my age I think it would be a good choice after Costa Rica. I know that that opportunity will come."

Prior to his signing with Alajuelense, the 30-year-old Discua has played with Honduran clubs Motagua, Olimpia and Victoria, and with Guatemalan clubs Xinabajul and Communicaciones.
