MLS Disciplinary Committee suspends San Jose Earthquakes' Jordan Stewart one game for violent conduct

San Jose Earthquakes defender Jordan Stewart has been suspended one game and fined an undisclosed amount for violent conduct in San Jose’s match Sunday against the Portland Timbers, the MLS Disciplinary Committee announced on Thursday.


Stewart caught Portland’s Dairon Asprilla with an elbow in the 45th minute of the match in an incident that went uncalled by the officiating crew (video above).


In addition, the Disciplinary Committee fined Houston Dynamo midfielder Leonel Miranda an undisclosed amount for embellishment in the 89th minute of Houston’s match against the Chicago Fire on Friday (VIDEO).


New York Red Bulls midfielder Felipe Martins has been fined an undisclosed amount for embellishment in the 17th minute of New York’s match against Columbus Crew SC on Saturday (VIDEO). Additionally, Crew SC midfielder Federico Higuain has been fined an undisclosed amount for violating the league’s policy regarding Hands to the Face/Head/Neck of an opponent, in the same incident.


New York City FC midfielder Mehdi Ballouchy has been fined an undisclosed amount for violating the league’s policy regarding Hands to the Face/Head/Neck of an opponent in the 48th minute of New York’s match against Montreal on Saturday (VIDEO).


FC Dallas forward Fabian Castillo has been fined an undisclosed amount for simulation in Dallas’ match against New England on Saturday (VIDEO).


Lastly, Orlando City SC has been fined an undisclosed amount for violating the league’s Mass Confrontation Policy in the 45th minute of their match against Real Salt Lake on Saturday (VIDEO).
