Greg Garza has been officially named by head coach Jurgen Klinsmann to the US national team’s Gold Cup roster to replace the injured Brad Davis, it was announced Thursday following approval from CONCACAF after completion of an application process.

Per tournament rules, pending CONCACAF approval a team may replace an injured player up to 24 hours prior to its first match. The player must come from the 35-man preliminary roster, which was submitted in early June.

The Atlas-based left back played in the USMNT’s last five games of 2014, starting three, and has two starts in 2015, including in the 2-0 win over Mexico on April 15 in San Antonio. Davis has returned to the Houston Dynamo after being ruled out of the tournament with a knee injury.

The team is training in Nashville ahead of their final tune-up Friday against Guatemala (6:30 pm ET; Fox Sports 1, UniMas, UDN). They’ll kick off the tournament July 7 against Honduras at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas (9:30 pm ET; Fox Sports 1, UniMas, UDN).
