American Exports: DeAndre Yedlin's immediate future with Tottenham still undetermined

DeAndre Yedlin with Tottenham Hotspur

AMSTERDAM – Though various English reports have Tottenham right-sider DeAndre Yedlin all set to leave White Hart Lane on loan, MLSsoccer.com has learned that nothing has been decided about the US international's immediate club future at this time.

The Telegraph claimed last week that Yedlin was packing for a season loan to promoted Premier League outfit Norwich City, while a Sky Sports reporter tweeted over the weekend that the American was already designated for loan without a set destination. However, sources informed MLSsoccer.com that such reports were premature, at best.

The rumor mill was jump-started as Spurs worked to complete the capture of Burnley right back Kieran Tripper, a move that seems to indicate that playing time would be harder to come by for Yedlin. Nevertheless, the tabloids now have Tottenham willing to sell the oft-injured Kyle Walker, which could have the reverse effect and increase the club's need to keep Yedlin on board for the coming season.

After joining Spurs in January, Yedlin was limited to one 12-minute sub appearance against Aston Villa in league play. He also worked three Under-21 Premier League contests with the reserves.

Tottenham, who will face the MLS All-Star Team at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Denver on July 30, are set to kick off the new EPL season with an Aug. 8 visit to Manchester United.
