AMSTERDAM – Molde FK winger Josh Gatt is expected back in training in short order after Wednesday exam results showed that a recent left knee setback was not serious.
The 23-year-old Michigan native was removed just four minutes into a May 22 Tippeligaen win away to Rhett Bernstein's Mjondalen, which was his first league appearance after nearly two years of battling through twin knee surgeries. This time, however, the comeback will be much quicker.
"It seems that things are now going Joshua's way," Molde manager Tor Ole Skullerud told the official club website after receiving the good news. "The swelling in the knee has gone down and he should be rehabbed to get him back on the pitch as quickly as possible."
The Norwegian champs did not specify an exact target date for Gatt's return, but suggested it would come as soon as he made it through some off-the-ball work without any discomfort.
"There is some uncertainty there, but all indications are that it will go well," Skullurud added. "Joshua was essentially 100 percent healthy when he has went out against Mjondalen, so I do not think it should take so long before he is back."
Molde, who currently stand fourth in the table, return from a short league break to visit third place Valerenga on Saturday evening. The club has also reached the last 16 of the NM Cupen and will begin the second round of Champions League qualifying in mid-July.
