Transfer Watch: Panama international Luis Henríquez out of contract at Lech Poznan, eyeing MLS

Luis Henriquez of the Panama national team

Panama international Luis Henríquez is reportedly looking to ply his trade a little bit closer to home.

The 33-year-old defender is out of contract at Polish club Lech Poznan, where he has spent the last eight seasons, and he told Poznan sport that he’s hoping to catch on next in MLS.

Henríquez has played a large role for both his club (139 appearances) and national team (73 appearances), leading Lech to a league title in 2009-10 and Polish Cup championship (2008-09) and Polish Super Cup in 2009. He made 14 starts and two substitute appearances for Lech this season, helping the club to the Polish title.

He started his career with Panamanian outfit Sporting ’89 in 2001 and has also played for Arabe Unido (Panama), Envigado (Colombia) and Tauro (Panama).

Should he receive the call-up from Panama for next month’s Gold Cup, it will provide an opportune scouting opportunity for interested MLS clubs.
